Many older and cost-sensitive buildings rely on non-insulated wall systems, either due to historical construction norms or low-cost prefabrication methods. These walls—typically concrete block, single-layer brick, or steel sheeting—lack a thermal break and thus become highly reactive to solar heat gain and airflow stagnation. Traditional insulation retrofits are often bulky, expensive, and sometimes non-compliant with zoning offsets or building preservation codes.
Jintong’s integrated sunshade and ventilation perforated metal cladding system offers a novel solution: it delivers airflow and radiant shielding without requiring insulation layers. Instead, it uses engineered air channeling and reflectivity techniques to create a cooling envelope effect across the bare wall. According to thermal façade studies by ScienceDirect, such configurations can reduce internal wall temperature by up to 9°C without added insulation mass.
The cladding unit consists of:
Front louver sheet: Perforated anodized aluminum angled to deflect high-angle summer sun
Air slot sub-frame: 50mm ventilated cavity layer to promote updraft-based convection
Rear anchor brackets: Low-penetration clip system for direct-to-wall install
Coated steel ribs: Embedded along vertical axis to strengthen wind resistance
An electrical substation built in 1998 was facing wall cracking and equipment overheating due to repeated solar expansion on non-insulated concrete. With no clearance for rigid foam insulation, the facility selected Jintong’s cladding system.
Results:
Interior equipment bay temp dropped from 41.2°C to 31.4°C
Wall surface expansion cracks reduced by 87% in 14 months
Maintenance cooling costs dropped by 22%
The project is now referenced in Building Science Corp’s passive cooling design handbook.
Single-layer masonry school walls in desert zones
Warehouse or distribution center exteriors with tin skin
Historic preservation buildings where no insulation intrusion is allowed
Rural healthcare buildings with climate stability needs
According to simulations validated by NREL and airflow reports by ASHRAE, this system:
Reduces solar radiation on bare concrete walls by 32–47%
Delivers up to 15.4% cooling energy savings over unshaded bare walls
Extends envelope lifespan by reducing moisture-driven wall damage
