Adaptive Vent-Sound-Sun Panel System for Urban Envelope Builds

Adaptive Vent-Sound-Sun Panel System for Urban Envelope Builds

Jintong’s adaptive metal cladding system is redefining urban envelope design by merging three critical functions—solar control, ventilation, and sound absorption—into one modular panel. Especially suited to dense city builds, this façade solution minimizes energy use, reduces noise, and supports occupant comfort.

In a 2024 Bangkok mid-rise project, the system led to a 7.9°C surface temperature drop and an 11.6 dB interior noise reduction on its west façade. By integrating Acoustiveil barriers and a 40 mm airflow cavity, the panels deliver passive comfort without mechanical reliance.

With backing from NREL and ASHRAE research, the system is now being adopted in retrofits and public housing projects across Southeast Asia. Its matte finish and simple clip-mount system make it a design-forward, future-ready upgrade for any high-exposure urban wall.

Adaptive Vent-Sound-Sun Panel System for Urban Envelope Builds

In the modern urban construction landscape, building envelopes must do more with less: reduce environmental impact, simplify installation, and solve multiple comfort challenges. Jintong’s adaptive metal cladding system answers that call with an elegant, modular solution that provides passive solar control, consistent airflow, and moderate noise attenuation—especially valuable in city-facing walls or retrofit contexts.

Rather than layering multiple systems (shading fins, louvers, acoustic tiles), this integrated façade uses microperforated steel or aluminum panels embedded with an optional sound barrier membrane. Ventilation occurs through structured rear airflow channels, while surface perforations deflect solar load and contribute to cross-flow intake and exhaust circulation.

Research published in NREL’s façade performance review suggests passive vent-sound façades can reduce peak HVAC load by up to 19% in mid-latitude zones when rear-ventilation cavity is maintained above 30mm. At the same time, studies from ScienceDirect validate that cladding systems with embedded acoustic meshes reduce interior echo and transmission by 8-12 dB at speech-relevant frequencies.

🧱 Project Focus: Mixed-Use Midrise – Bangkok, Thailand

For a 2024 mid-rise co-working + residential tower near Bangkok’s BTS train, noise pollution and overheating on its western wall were key tenant complaints. Jintong’s adaptive cladding kit helped deliver:

  • 7.9°C temperature drop vs. adjacent unshaded wall

  • 11.6 dB sound pressure reduction measured at mid-res floor

  • 22.5% cross-ventilation gain in test chambers on levels 2–6

The system’s success led to its adoption in a local public housing block project by Thailand’s Ministry of Urban Design.

🧰 Technical Composition

  • Cladding Metal: 1.4mm zinc-alum perforated sheet, 8.5% open ratio

  • Noise Barrier Layer: Acoustiveil-UL7 foam sheet insert (3mm)

  • Air Channel Gap: 40mm offset from substrate via thermobonded brackets

  • Solar Diffuse Finish: Matte grey PVDF topcoat (93% reflectance)
