Cross-Vent Compatible Wall System with Integrated Sunshade and Micro-Perforated Vents
For large-scale public pavilions and transit facilities in warm climates, managing lateral airflow without compromising façade integrity is a challenge. A metro transfer hub in southern Spain suffered from stagnant air, overheating, and wind shear instability. Our team implemented a facade upgrade integrating micro-perforated metal ventilation bands with modular sunshade fins. The redesign complied with ASTM E2634 and ISO 6946 thermal wall envelope standards.
Application: Transit-Oriented Structure
The design required passive ventilation and low-maintenance materials. Wall modules used marine-grade aluminum with variable-depth perforations to support horizontal airflows. Integrated shading overhangs reduced surface radiation, with configuration guided by MDPI sustainability reports and ScienceDirect cross-ventilation studies.
Design and Product Integration
Wall cores were backed with mineral wool for acoustic and fire resistance. Vent zones deployed Acoustic Perforated Panels.
